Dr. Paul Lasko, Scientific Director of the CIHR’s Institute of Genetics (CIHR-IG) is pleased to announce the 14th Annual New Principal Investigators Meeting (October 30 to November 1, 2015, Mont Gabriel, Québec).
The 14th Annual New Principal Investigators Meeting will be a mentorship and networking event designed to strengthen the professional development of junior faculty working in related or overlapping fields. Virtually without exception, the more than 1,300 New PIs who have attended one of the previous New PI meetings have declared it to be a valuable experience.
The format of this year's meeting will include presentations covering a range of health research of common interest to the three sponsoring CIHR Institutes, including basic, clinical, applied and health services and policy research. Investigators will describe their recent research and indicate what was critical to their developing a successful research career. Established scientists will also lead workshops on grant writing, the mechanics of peer review, and the administrative and human resource challenges of running a laboratory or research team.
IG supports research on the human and model genomes and on all aspects of genetics, basic biochemistry and cell biology related to health and disease, including the translation of knowledge into health policy and practice, and the societal implications of genetic discoveries. Candidates are nominated by Senior Investigators, and have a significant portion of their costs covered by CIHR. Applications are accepted primarily on a first-come first-served basis.
